Loving Yourself On Your Worst Days

Do you feel like you’re all alone? Do you feel like you are not enough? You know you are are trying but on somedays it just seems like the world against you.

And that is okay.

Our feelings make us humans, being down and upset is part of life.  It is important to feel the feeling, acknowledge it’s there, this is one way you can love yourself.

We all have those days where we wonder if we are worthy of that job? Are we worthy of that relationship? Are we worthy of nice things? In those moments,  take a break.  Listen to your mind and body, if you need a break - priorities yourself. When you are the best you, you can give the people around you the best.

Ways you can amplify your sadness.

First and most importantly, set a timer, allow yourself to only be sad for 2 days. This is a way of loving yourself, for better or worse right?

  1. Go into a downward spiral of negative thoughts.
Play those sad songs, pay attention to your negative thoughts. This is one way you can truly understand yourself.

  2. Have a conversation with yourself
Look into the mirror, and just talk. Build the relationship with yourself, understand you. We say communication with our partners and friends is essential to a relationship, but have you stopped to communicate with the most important relationship you’ll ever have?

  3. Do nothing and Just be.

It’s okay to not do anything. It’s okay to take a day off, its okay to lie in bed all day.

Watch a movie to take your mind of your thoughts time to time. (About Time is one of those great movie to watch when you are down)

It is okay to cut yourself from the world,  Don’t talk to anyone, don’t reply to text, don’t answer calls and Don’t check social media. We should normalise a status of: “Can’t talk right now; feeling sad”

Lastly, We can’t stress this enough, don’t dwell in the feelings for too long. Below are ways you can

Ways to pick yourself up.

When you are ready to snap out of it, there is so much you can do to pick yourself up and

  1. Affirmations

Reciting Affirmations is one of the best ways to shift your mood at any given time. Tailor your affirmations to whatever you are feeling now that you want to change, for example, if you are worried about the outcome of a job application.
    - I acknowledge that I am sad and upset
    - Everything works In my favour
    - I am worthy and enough.

  2. Meditate, this will help with being more calm and accept everything that is.

  3. Wake up early
Make yourself a nice coffee, grab a good read - short articles or a book in the corner.

  4. Get out there and do something for yourself

    A massage, a shopping spree, a run,

  5. Try a new activity.

Get out of your comfort zone, who you were yesterday is not who you are now. One way to affirm that is to do something you have never done.
