Why Loving Yourself is Hard

Most of us grow up in a generation where self doubt is a part of us, “we want to be better, we want to like them, we are not enough”. Comparing ourselves to others is a part of how we see the world.

That is the most common struggles of self love are for most of us, we struggle with being happy with who and where we are right now instead we are constantly seeking approval of others.

Self love is a mindset we need to encourage, a mindset we need to build into our perspective. A mindset that we won’t fit everyone’s idea of perfect and that is okay.

On top of that, The idea of love is highly romanticised, it's not always butterflies and laughters, love shows the strongest during the harder times.

Choose to love yourself when you feel like you are lacking.

Choose to realise that your life and experience is uniquely yours, striving for more and having goals is good but don’t let the fact that you are lacking it now, stop you from loving yourself for who you are at this very moment.

Love the potential you can become, but  be conscious to not hate yourself for lacking what you don’t have yet.

How to make loving yourself easier:

  1. Accept who and where you are right now

  • Having goals is important to give life meaning but don’t let the lack of not having yet stop you from appreciating yourself right now.

    2. Identify things about yourself you appreciate

  • This can be  either physical or emotional appreciation. Are you thankful for tangible things, like your features? Or could it be your strength to keep your head high when things get tough? What about the way you handle situations.

    3. Don’t Take things Personally

  • Realise that people say things based on their own perception of life. You don’t  have to fit in everyone’s life.

The love for yourself will speak volumes through your actions and words. You can tell if someone loves themselves based on how they talk about others. It is okay if you don’t fit in everybody’s life, you need to learn to be okay with that.

Lastly, loving yourself is the greatest asset you can own because no one can take it away from you.
